Bush and Hurricanes

Well, it is great to see some things never do change. Katrina was horrible. Then Gustav started to make republicans think that they can brag that they fixed the issues. Now Houston has sat vacant since Ike hit. The Army Reserve had to rescue - THE NATIONAL GUARD of Texas! The weren't prepared! The FEMA office in Houston had to ask local residents for assistance during the storm.

There are several dozen trucks outside the area which have been sitting since before the storm hit waiting to be allowed into the area. They are just sitting there.

This is NO better than what they did in New Orleans. Maybe now I'll stop hearing republicans b!tch!ng that they should have never built in the area.

Yes, they should not have - the French actually used SCIENCE and ENGINEERING to figure out where to put the French quarter - on islands in the mud of the delta... But in Galveston - there is no redeemable properties from an engineering standpoint on which to really build. Half the structures were built on stilts because they flood on a regular - almost yearly - basis!!! Difference is, no-one will complain about them - because they're wealthier.

It was never a RACE thing (although I do think it has something to do with the decisions of this administration - if you can call it that), it IS about wealth - who has it = good, who does not = evil... Very simple philosophy!
