In 1907 this company moved to Philly, but Rohm stayed in Germany. He went on to found Rohm GmBH which supplied much of the gun-powder and explosives used in WWI... The company was later used during WWII and then bought by ... Rohm and Haas in the 50's-60's...

No, no remember the 5th of November
5 November, 1605 - The Gunpowder Plot
Guy Fawkes (Catholic) preapred explosives to destory both Houses of Parliament during the State Opening. It was planned to kill James I, his family, and all the current memebers of the houses (Protestant).
The people of London celebrated the failure of the plot by lighting bon fires. It is still practiced in some places today as Guy Fawkes night.
Unfortunately, the cellar in which Fawkes watched over his gunpowder was demolished in the mid 1800's. His lantern - from which he took the flame to light the gunpowder - is in an Oxford museum.
A mask in the shape of Guy Fawkes face was used in V for Vandetta. They also quoted some of the traditional rhymes...
Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I can think of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Remember, remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason, why gunpowder treason
Should ever be forgot.
Remember, remember, the fifth of November,
Gunpowder, treason and plot!
A stick or a stake for King James' sake
Will you please to give us a fagot
If you can't give us one, we'll take two;
The better for us and the worse for you!
Guy, guy, guy
Poke him in the eye,
Put him on the bonfire,
And there let him die
A penny loaf to feed the Pope
A farthing o' cheese to choke him.
A pint of beer to rinse it down.
A fagot of sticks to burn him.
Burn him in a tub of tar.
Burn him like a blazing star.
Burn his body from his head.
Then we'll say ol' Pope is dead.
Hip hip hoorah!
Hip hip hoorah hoorah!

Wait isn't that communists? Anyway...
Obama won, get over it. Do not attempt to Impeach someone before they take office. For some unknown reason our idiot leader in the House "took that off the table," as an option against the current person pretending to hold the office... Which has at least 78 different things for which he can be Impeached - and even tried for Treason!
Even if Obama does a "bad job," it will still be 1,000,000,000,000,000x better than Bush could ever have done even if he tried to do a good job. BTW that is the number to which the national debt would have been headed if McBush won...
McCain gave a great speach last night. It was marred by the idiots in the audience booing Obama, and the snide comments they were making aloud and visibly noticable throughout the crowd as the cameras panned the audience.
By comparison, the audience for Obama clapped and even cheered for McCain. For the people who voted for Obama didn't just vote against McCain - they voted for UNITY and bringing our country back together. To make up for the past 8 years of tearing us apart - to make up for the devisive tactics which used fear, ignorance, and slander to get what the people wanted.
Bringing up arguments which will never be changed as easily as the sides say - marriage amendment, gun amendments, abortion changes, etc...
Now Obama has very big expectations which he hopefully can meet. I know that he will have mistakes and the media, and the right will rip him apart for each and every minor glitch that goes wrong. They already started - apparently the stock market would have sky rocketed if McCain won... if these people have such a crystal ball, why aren't they as rich as Warren Buffet??
There was a large Obama-effect overnight; however, very poor results in various economic indicators around the world - 3Q earnings, more banks going belly-up, and other indicators that the "economic slow-down" is a full blown recession and maybe even leading to a global depression. By comparison, the fact that the markets only dropped by a few hundred was pretty good.
I wish Obama-Biden nothing but the best of luck and will be doing everything I can do as a citizen of a unified nation to bring us together and to attempt to move forward as one to make this a better nation - like it was before Nixon started the road to imploding this nation.
Like it was before Regan began his shadow government, his treasonious deal to get the hostages released only if he was elected by selling drugs in the US and guns in other nations and giving the money to others. Before aribtrary witch hunts continue moving forward just to find something - ANYTHING - on someone who has nothing for which to be impeached.
I look forward to the future and can only hope things keep moving forward.

Quote of the Day
Jenna Jacobs: I don't say homosexuality is an abomination, Mr. President, the Bible does.
President Bartlet: Yes, it does. Leviticus.
Jenna Jacobs: 18:22.
President Bartlet: Chapter and verse. I wanted to ask you a couple of questions while I have you here. I'm interested in selling my youngest daughter into slavery as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. She's a Georgetown sophmore, speaks fluent Italian, always cleared the table when it was her turn. What would a good price for her be? While thinking about that, can I ask another? My Chief of Staff Leo McGarry insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly says he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself or is it okay to call the police? Here's one that's really important because we've got a lot of sports fans in this town: touching the skin of a dead pig makes one unclean. Leviticus 11:7. If they promise to wear gloves, can the Washington Redskins still play football? Can Notre Dame? Can West Point? Does the whole town really have to be together to stone my brother John for planting different crops side by side? Can I burn my mother in a small family gathering for wearing garments made from two different threads? "Think about that, will you? Oh, and one last thing. You may have mistaken this for your meeting of the ignorant tight-asses club but in this building, when the President stands, nobody sits.

Sarah Palin - items against the extremist
2) Sought to get books banned and fired people to get it done from libraries in Wasilla and then the state as a whole
3) Want creationism taught in all schools before and more emphasised than evolution
4) anti-choice - NO MATTER what the situation
5) demanded and fired employees for not signing "loyalty oath cards," - loyalty to HER.
6) Her church - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/palins-church-may-have-sh_n_123205.html
7) Extremist NRA member
8) Believes in Witchcraft and that god tells her what is right and wrong - isn't that (a) what the "enemy" says, and (b) what Bush has said for years?
McCain v. Obama
McCain - LOWER the tax rate for largest corporations from 35% to 25% (on what is "taxable"). Would remove "barriers" from corporations which prevent them from functioning at their best...
- because this worked so well with the energy industry that we applied these same ideas and methods to other industries. Yes, thanks to Bush and McCain we've already adopted Enron methods to such things as the oil training industry and to the banks! That is continuing to work out well, isn't it??? (BTW - opec cannot pump anymore oil because there is no-where to send it... The real reason prices are so high is because of the market system... speculators rasining the prices? - why yes, because they are ALL speculators - THAT HOW A MARKET SYSTEM WORKS - idiots!)
Obama wants to give tax-cuts to the middle class to inspire healthy economic issues for the MIDDLE CLASS!!!
$18,000,000 for 3 weeks on the job?????
GRANTED - WaMu's debts are now all JPMorgan-Chase's debts, but it still shows how the upper level rich people continue to get richer while the rest of us get sh!t upon. That is what Reaganomics really is - the rich get richer and the rest of us get sh!t on - hopefully there is undigested money in the poo with which we can pay for food.
And who is this?

This is Miss Misty. She is a 9yr old Black Lab! She's a little overweight; but was spoiled by her previous bipeds. They were an elderly couple who shared their life with her from nearly after her birth - 30 June, 1999. Unfortunately her "father" died from a heart-attack and her "mother" was then put into a nursing home. She was sent to the lab-rescue.
Mari and I adopted her 20 Sept 2008! She's the cutest thing! Whines a little; however, she misses the only bipeds with which she ever lived. Today she had a spay and got a whole bunch of dental work done. The vet said she came out of the surgeries fine and recovered well. We should hopefully be able to pick her up tomorrow and bring her back home!
Misty is actually AKC certified, if anyone is impressed by that. I just find it funny that we now know more about our puppy's bloodline than about our own put together! LOL!

last thought today
This holds true - we've lost more than anyone could know.
The British never gave up their liberties because people were terrorising their nation. The Isrealis haven't give up their OWN liberties because they are being attacked by terrors.
When we took a step backward and ended our freedoms - no matter how small or in our case today - how large - we gave up everything that made us, us. We gave up everything that seperated us from the evil that we were fighting and/or protecting ourselves against.
Wehn we started torturing people we opened not only our military up to tortore and other problems. By doing something completely against all international laws we've opened ourselves up to justification of their attacks and hatred against up, and have opened everyone up to attacks internationally. International law didn't just protect our soldiers under the Geneva conventions, it protected our citizens at large against attack, being held hostage, etc. under the Warsaw Conventions - READ the back of your airline ticket booklets they slide your ticket into - its all in their - usually highlighting what happens to your luggage - protection for your luggage...
Religion
60% think that Noah's ark was a true story.
55% think that Angels literally stepped into their lives to save them.
Two studies recently proved that people who are die hard bible bangers (the ones that belive in nothing else and cannot disconnect the real world from their poor thoughts) - no matter which faith (including Judaism and Muslim), etc - are less intelligent and make more errors in judgement. These studies were by a little hole in the wall school in England - Oxford University, and a completly anti-church organization... A school run by the orthodox christian church in the middle east.
I think that these past two elections have proven some of these issues are true!
History DOES repeat itself
Who were the Keating Five? They were senators who assisted and funnelled money to Charles H. Keating, Jr. chairman of one of the S&Ls. The other leaders of the largest were also supported, however, they only really investigated the one.
Senator John McCain was one of the leaders of these five senators who supported deregulation then and still supports it now... It was completely wrong then and it was done even worse now!
This is precisely what happened in this current issue. They want deregulation until their buddies can profit from a bailout. We must impeach the president, vp, and all his minions who allowed this to happen. We must hold the deregulators accountable and bring this nation back to for the people by the people from being for the rich by the rich...
Great article about how we're eventually going to turn into France.
"Americans always do the right thing - After they've exhausted every other option," Sir Winston Churchill.

Bush and Hurricanes
There are several dozen trucks outside the area which have been sitting since before the storm hit waiting to be allowed into the area. They are just sitting there.
This is NO better than what they did in New Orleans. Maybe now I'll stop hearing republicans b!tch!ng that they should have never built in the area.
Yes, they should not have - the French actually used SCIENCE and ENGINEERING to figure out where to put the French quarter - on islands in the mud of the delta... But in Galveston - there is no redeemable properties from an engineering standpoint on which to really build. Half the structures were built on stilts because they flood on a regular - almost yearly - basis!!! Difference is, no-one will complain about them - because they're wealthier.
It was never a RACE thing (although I do think it has something to do with the decisions of this administration - if you can call it that), it IS about wealth - who has it = good, who does not = evil... Very simple philosophy!

MARS - interesting findings recently

Recenly, new data has proven what many scientists and "off-the-wall" folks have been saying for years. That Mars was a water covered planet and that something came along and changed this - i.e. something smacked into the side of the planet and caused the water to evaporate and cause the one side of the planet to look different than the other.
In addition NASA has stated that asparagus (my least favorite veggie) could grow in the Martian soil. Showing yet again that there was water, nutrients in the soil, and other facts which could have led to actual life on the planet...

I just find it a little interesting that these theories have been around for years and that parts of it are being proven finally. I long thought that it was odd that the astroid belt is in our system. All other areas formed into planets or were destroyed long ago. But the astroids in the belt are large enough to appear "recent." A large strike of some object onto Mars could have formed this belt and could also have formed other anomolies throughout the solar system...

Cars - who's winning?
Chrysler - down
Ford - down
Toyota - RECORD SALES!
Let's see. Could it because up until the past two weeks the US automakers denied alternatives to the normal internal combustion engine? Could it be because although GM had the ultimate car they destroyed the program - the EV1...? Could it be because they've been loosing their strangle hold on patents for alternative energy vehicles - thanks to Clinton?
I don't know - maybe it was just luck. That's probably what McBush thinks.
Supreme Court Ruling :(

Supreme Court Ruling :(
Human season is now open again in DC. The only thing slowing the shootings has been the hand-gun ban. It allowed police the ability to conduct more detailed searches, and get the weapons out of the hands of people quickly. It isn't like people can HUNT in DC. It isn't like there is a real need for these weapons. I predict that what will happen is an arms race between the cops and the "robbers." Probably not as bad as it was in LA during the 80's, but perhaps pretty heated. The gangs had a lot more money then and could afford weapons that third-world nations could not afford on the open market...
Some of the silliness of the argument probably comes from capitolization; however, this wasn't even brought up during the case and some of the idiots on the bench didn't even recognize the entire writing of it in either form... Although the court cited the House/Senate version...AS PASSED BY THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
AS PASSED BY THE STATES:
"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

NYC's Big Memorial Pit!

Imagine only having enough money to order one type of pizza, if you will. No imagine having to satisfy thousands of people with this decision - IMPOSSIBLE.
This is what the problem is with what the Architectural Institute of America calls the number one eye-sore in the US. There are too many people with too many ideas and putting up too many blockades. They will now reap the benefit of their stupidity - have nothing to remember their loved ones...

As of yesterday, 30 June, the planning budget came to a grinding hault. So it would appear that we will have this wonderful reminder of what happened forever engrained into the ground in NYC...
Another strike against our Leaderless Feader - GWB... Idiot. He should have stepped forward and put some effort into making sure that this did not happen...

The TLC Rocks!!!
The NYC TLC - Taxi Limousine Commission (TLC) - revised their new ruling for the change-over to alternate fuel vehicles... They changed the date to 30 September 2008!!!! The new rules state (within about 50 pages)... Bad part of it is that a medallion (the badge on the top of the hood - TLC license) fee will now be $300,000 / car, but the good news is ... ... ...
