First point is how do they have a photo of it on Mars already? In the upper right corner of the article they have a little photo of this thing on Martian terrain... Oh well...

I think that they should have come up with this for applications around the world now instead of for Mars in the future.

The hands and arm could have been used to help disabled people - maybe Iraqi injured "war-fighters" coming back without such appendages anymore.

or Why not use this to help out in hazardous situations where we shouldn't be sending people?
