First Woman appointed as Governor-General of Australia. In the parlimentary system this is the "president" or "queen" of australia. The governor-general serves as the queen's (GB) representative in Australia.

The U.S. will get there some day, just hopefully not in this election cycle. It is funny how African, South American, and now Australia countries can elect women to the highest office, yet the free-est, most wonderful society ever created still lags behind.
